Today I want to introduce you to your beauty team, the Mint Beauty Lab!
A sassy group of friends who just wanted to work in a fun place that appreciated their love for vibrant color and funky design, they decided to build their empire together.
This award winning Colorado Springs salon is full service; offering manicures, pedicures, hair styling and fresh cuts, waxing, and even lash extension services.

So, let's talk a little bit about the process!
Nicole: I take care of the makeup and/or hair.
Lori: I do lots of hair, but not the makeup.
(Everybody laughs a bit)
Nicole jumps in: she'll learn!
As a side note- though Lori's specialty is hair and is being very modest about her abilities with make-up in this interview, she is getting pretty amazing at it! A recent client of mine, who came all the way from Hawaii to do a session with me, had her hair AND make-up done by Lori! Lori did such a great job and my client was so happy with the end result- couldn't have asked for more!
How long have you guys been in business now?
NICOLE: WE'VE BEEN AT THIS LOCATION FOR 5 YEARS NOW, BUT I'VE BEEN IN THE BUSINESS FOR 15 YEARS.
LORI: AND I HAVE BEEN IN THE BUSINESS FOR 14!
What made you decide to move into Old Colorado City?
NICOLE: UGH... JUST EVERYTHING!
LORI: THE LOCATION AND BRICK WALLS!
NICOLE: AND DEFINITELY THE LOCAL FEEL... BEING AROUND SMALL BUSINESSES... UHM, YEAH!
How do you guys help the ladies determine the look they are going for?
LORI: WITH THE HAIR, I ASK THEM ABOUT THEIR PERSONAL STYLE, WHAT LOOK THEY ARE GOING FOR, AND WHETHER THEY WANT TO GO MORE NATURAL, TOWARDS WHAT THEY DO EVERY DAY, OR IF THEY WANT FULL GLAM. I TO ASK THEM WHAT SORT OF OUTFITS THEY HAVE, WHAT COLOR SCHEME AND LOOK THEY'RE TRYING TO GO FOR WITH THAT, WHICH SOMETIMES THEY'RE COMFORTABLE SHARING AND SOMETIMES THEY'RE NOT, AND THAT'S TOTALLY FINE, BUT I ALSO ASK IF THEY'VE DONE A BOUDOIR SESSION BEFORE; I ASK STUFF LIKE IF THEY ARE DOING IT FOR THEM OR FOR THEMSELVES, AND OTHER STUFF LIKE THAT.
NICOLE: AND WITH THE MAKEUP PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THING, ASK QUESTIONS LIKE IF THEY WANT TO LOOK MORE NATURAL OR SUPER GLAM; BECAUSE USUALLY IT'S ONE OR THE OTHER WITH MOST PEOPLE.
