Whether you are thinking about booking a boudoir photo shoot for yourself (finally! geez!)
or you just booked and are looking for ways treat your big day #LikeABOSS, here are some...
Important Tips to ROCK Your Boudoir Shoot!
Day before Your Photo Shoot:
1) Please TRY ON ALL lingerie!
You should never depend on the photographer to just photoshop your ill-fitting lingerie to make it fit properly. When things are too loose or too tight it will not be complimentary in pictures.
2)
PLEASE REMOVE CHIPPED NAIL POLISH AND GET A MANICURE. IF YOU AREN'T A MANICURE TYPE OF GIRL, THEN YOU CAN ALWAYS GET PRESS-ON/STICKER NAILS AND ARRIVE WITH THEM ON. SOFT BLUSH COLORS, FRENCH MANICURE, AND NEUTRAL COLORS ALL LOOK GREAT ON NAILS. TRY TO AVOID BRIGHT NAILS, BUSY PATTERNS, AND TIPS THAT ARE DARK. THIS WILL MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE YOU HAVE DIRT UNDER YOUR NAILS.
3)
Please don’t tan or spray tan before your shoot. The camera does not like spray tan/tanning, and you’ll end up looking orange in photos (yes, no matter HOW GOOD your tech is. JUST. DON’T.DO.IT.). I kid you not, the camera picks up orange tone more than your naked eye will, it will add nothing to your skin, and I will just have to do extra editing, plus cleaning my furniture if it gets on.
4)
Don’t try a new hairstyle or color the week of your shoot. Save anything drastic for after your shoot. PLEASE GET YOUR ROOTS DONE a week or so before your shoot.
5)
Please arrive with a clean face and DRY hair, that was washed the day before. Please don’t wash your hair the morning of the shoot, it will hold styling better when not freshly washed :]
6)
If you wear eyelash extensions, please get them filled the day before your shoot. If not, my beauty team will still offer you full lashes anyway so don’t worry about it.
7)
DO ALL YOUR GROOMING A DAY PRIOR TO YOUR SHOOT. ESPECIALLY IF WAXING/SHAVING! TAKE A BATH! EXFOLIATE! PAMPER YOURSELF TO THE MAX! MAKES THE WHOLE PREP THING INTO MORE OF AN EXPERIENCE!
8)
GET LOTS OF SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR SESSION. BEAUTY REST IS A REAL THING. GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP WILL KEEP DARK CIRCLES AWAY. PLUS, THE DAY OF THE SHOOT WILL BE VERY LONG, IF YOU DIDN’T GET ENOUGH SLEEP THEN YOU WILL WANT TO QUIT EARLY- WHAT A SHAME!
DAY OF Your Photo Shoot:
1)
I can not stress this enough. EAT BEFORE YOUR SHOOT! Not just a piece of toast, but an actual breakfast. You will burn calories and some clients have even compared their shoot to a workout. You will be tired. You may be sore the next day. PLEASE EAT.
2)
Bring at least 6-8 outfit choices with you (more is definitely ok)! It is better to have more options! Try to choose a variety for outfits (ex. not all bra and panty sets). Bodysuits look great and they are flattering for all body types! Our studio shoots 4-5 per session outfits (unless your collection includes more looks). Please bring a variety of colors and accessories to go with your looks, if you have some.
3)
AGAIN- IF YOU ARE SELF CONSCIOUS ABOUT YOUR MIDDLE, DO NOT BRING ALL TWO-PIECE OUTFITS. DON'T BRING ALL BRA AND PANTY SETS. THEY ARE CUTE, BUT YOU DON'T WANT TO BE THINKING ABOUT YOUR TUMMY THE WHOLE TIME. I KNOW THIS IS A DAY TO BE BRAVE, SO, BRING, LIKE, ONE, OR TWO, IF YOU MUST. MOST WOMEN FEEL SELF CONSCIOUS ABOUT THEIR BELLIES SO IF THEY’RE NOT USED TO SHOWING OFF THAT AREA, THEN YOU WILL FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE AND IT WILL SHOW IN PICS. PLUS, MOST BRA/PANTY SETS HAVE LOW RISE PANTIES WHICH WILL MAKE OUR LOVE HANDLES POKE OUT FARTHER THAN USUAL ON THE SIDES; MAKING YOU FEEL EVEN WORSE. SO, IF YOU DO GO FOR A BRA+PANTY SET, AT LEAST GO FOR THE HIGH RISE PANTIES AND GRAB A GARTER BELT-THANK ME LATER! JUST TRY NOT TO BRING TOO MANY BRA+PANTY SETS. I WOULD RATHER YOU BRING FOUR VARIOUS BODYSUITS AND SHAPE WEAR THAN FOUR BRA AND PANTY SETS. :)
4)
BRING A VARIETY OF HEELS, SKIN TONE, BLACK, AND A FUN COLOR (THINK RED, PINK, OR BLUE). TALL HEELS, GIRLS. TALL HEELS. THE LONGER THE HEEL, THE LONGER YOUR LEGS WILL APPEAR. SO, THE HIGHER/SKINNIER THE HEELS THE BETTER. AVOID ANKLE STRAPS ON YOUR HEELS. YOU WILL SEE THE BOTTOM OF YOUR HEELS IN SOME PICTURES, SO IF THEY ARE OLD/WORN, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TELL. AVOID FLOWER PATTERNS/PATTERNS IN GENERAL. WE DON'T WANT THE FOCUS TO BE YOUR FEET, WE WANT THE FOCUS TO BE YOUR LEGS.
5)
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND COMING TO YOUR SHOOT IN A SHEATH DRESS OR YOGA PANTS (LOOSE FITTING AND/OR STRETCHY CLOTHING). JEANS AND OTHER TIGHT CLOTHING WILL LEAVE MARKS ON YOUR SKIN THAT WILL SHOW UP IN PORTRAITS.
6)
Please bring a robe to stay warm in-between outfit changes.
7)
BRING ACCESSORIES (SPORTS JERSEYS, YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER’S WORK SHIRT OR WORK HAT, A SILK ROBE, JEWELRY). SOMETIMES PROPS JUST WON'T TRANSLATE IN PICTURES. IF THAT IS THE CASE WITH YOUR PROP, I’LL LET YOU KNOW.
8)
Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes early for your shoot as they may still be setting up or even trying to finish breakfast before you arrive. For our studio, you will be the first appointment of the day and we will not have the doors unlocked yet, you may be standing outside for a little while.
9)
Please don't be late though, our studio will have a long day ahead; 5 to 6 hours with me is enough and we all don't want to miss our dinners. Though I can take my time with you if you really need to be a bit late (due to parking and what not) please let us know so we don't give up on you because my beauty team does have other appointments stacked throughout the day and you will be their first for the day. If you are more than 15 minutes late we may have to reschedule depending on the circumstances.
10)
Most importantly! RELAX! I will tell you everything to do! How to pose, where to look, where to put your hands and feet, even how to stand. All you have to do is arrive!
I’m looking forward to getting to know you!
Xoxo
